For generations, the community of Bora in Oromia region faced severe water scarcity. Women and children walked 8-10 hours daily to collect water from contaminated sources. Waterborne diseases were common, and agricultural productivity was minimal.
ACEO Intervention (2021-2023)
ACEO partnered with the community to implement a comprehensive water solution:
- Drilled 3 deep boreholes (180-220 meters deep)
- Installed solar-powered pumping systems
- Built 5 water distribution points
- Constructed irrigation canals for 50 hectares
- Trained Water Committee of 15 community members
