ACEO Provides Dignity and Hygiene Support to Female Students

Guwnguwa, Ethiopia —2026 – In a continued effort to promote girls’ education and menstrual health, the Addaarroo Charitable Endowment Organization (ACEO) has distributed sanitary pads and bath soap to many female students in selected schools across the Oromia region. The initiative aims to reduce absenteeism caused by lack of access to menstrual hygiene products and to empower young women to stay in school with confidence.

The distribution events were held at schools in rural Oromia, where girls often miss classes during their menstrual cycles due to the unavailability of affordable sanitary products. Each student received a kit containing sanitary pads, bath soap, and informational materials on menstrual health management.

“I used to miss school for three to four days every month because I had nothing to use. Now with these pads, I can attend classes regularly and focus on my studies,” said a 10th-grade student at one of the beneficiary schools.

ACEO’s Founder and Board chair, Mr. Boru Gelgelo, emphasized the broader impact: “Access to sanitary products is not just about hygiene—it’s about dignity, equality, and keeping girls in school. When girls stay in school, they are more likely to complete their education, delay marriage, and contribute to their communities. This small intervention can have lifelong benefits.”
